Thank you Mouhamad for joining me on the playground and sharing your pivots with us today.

Here are my take aways from the chat:

Even if your life takes a drastic turn – like moving to a new country, speaking and new language and experiencing a completely new culture – you can do it.

You can be scared but still hopeful at the same time. And even if you have to start at the bottom – like Mouhamad started in Grade 8 – there are resources available to help you. You just need to know what they are and be able to take advantage of them.

Persistence, motivation, showing up (even if you don’t understand everything), and asking questions are all key in creating the future you want for yourself.

Be around people who encourage and support you – like his teachers. Have a goal in mind and adopt a positive attitude to whatever you are doing.

Don’t complain – instead feel gratitude. And in Mouhamad’s words – if you see something great from me, it’s coming from my parents.

Find inspiration in others. Benefit for informational interviews.

And finally – ask questions. As Confucius says “The man who asks a question is a fool for a minute, the man who does not ask is a fool for life.”
