The apostle, John, is writing to teach Christ-followers some very important aspects of being a true Christian. In I John 1:5-7, he makes a huge point of letting us know that GOD IS LIGHT. God created light on the first day of creation. Therefore, it has great significance in the way that we should see God. God’s light is pure and there is no darkness in God at all! (See verse 5) God truly wants the best for us and sent Jesus so that we would have a way to be redeemed from our sins. In verse 6, John reminds us that we do not have fellowship with God if we walk in darkness through sin and lies. Then, he tells us that if we truly walk in the light the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin, verse 7. Walking in the light is a choice. You can’t hide anything from God. Do you get along with fellow Christians? Do you follow Jesus’ example? Do you see yourself when you fall into darkness? If you take your own spiritual inventory and are honest with yourself, are you truly walking in the light? Is it time for you to “turn on the light” in your life?
