20 percent of Australians experience a mental illness in any given year, and research shows these conditions are more prevalent among 18 to 24-year-olds. Backchat reporter Chantelle Al-Khouri spoke to the Black Dog Institute, the Butterfly Foundation, and the Indigo Project about the spike in mental health issues facing young Aussies.


A movement to change the Aboriginal flag’s copyright permissions has recently kicked off. Nearly 150,000 people signing a petition to “free the flag”, while a federal inquiry into its licensing arrangements and use was launched last week. Wirlomin-Noongar writer and poet Claire G. Coleman helps us break down the misconceptions in this divisive debate.
