Social Development minister, Lindiwe Zulu has reiterated that everybody has to reapply for the reinstated 350-rand social relief grant. President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the grant would be paid until March next year and will now include unemployed caregivers. The reintroduction of the grant by the president follows the looting and violence that hit KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng three weeks ago. Many poor people have been adversely affected by the recent violence. Ramaphosa said 27 billion rand had been set aside for the reintroduced 350 rand grant.
