Listen below to this recorded shiur by Rabbi Brovender on Parshat Korach (see below).
This week Rabbi Brovender discusses a number of questions: Why does Korach have such a long name going back several generations? How is the verb 'lakach' meaning 'to take' understood here? Rabbi Brovender explains that Rashi says if you only read the story of Korach through the words in the Torah you won't understand what is happening. A good idea, Rashi notes, is to look at the Midrash Tanchumah. Rashi means to say there is a story behind the story and what you read in the Torah is only on the surface. Listen in as the story unfolds.
