Seven villagers remain trapped in a cave system in Laos after entering to search for gold over a week ago. Heavy rain triggered flash flooding and landslides that blocked their exit from the narrow limestone caves, some passages measuring only 30 centimetres wide. Rescue teams are currently navigating extremely dangerous conditions to reach the trapped individuals, with additional rainfall threatening to flood the cave system further.
