In this episode, our guests discuss  their contention that environmental social work and environmental justice represent a subset of our traditional conceptualization of social justice. Whether it is the water in Flint, Michigan or the effects of global warming, the disproportionate impact on vulnerable and marginalized communities requires that social workers practice beyond the micro level and enter into the arenas of advocacy, influencing policy-making, social action, and various other social work role sets.

Findings from her research project examining factors that contribute to police officer support for a police-advocate partnership intervention are discussed, and the implications for social work practice and policy pertaining to the implementation of interagency collaborative interventions are summarized.

Details and implications pertaining to findings from her qualitative thematic analysis are described, and suggestions for heightening attention to how sexual violence is conceptualized within the media are considered. She summarizes the history of student loans and their role in financing education, describes the concept of the ‘dual quality of debt’, and considers the implications of the growing student loan debt crisis for social work practice, specifically, and for practice and policy.
