Radio Texas Live Legends

Koe Wetzel's rise to stardom in the Texas Music scene is truly unique, and you'll find out why during this interview. At the time, he was a one-man, DIY artist who booked interviews on Twitter. Now, with nearly 300K followers, that's changed.

Cody Canada formed Cross Canadian Ragweed, an all-time great Texas music band and then he formed the Departed, another group of all-timers. He's a rock star but he couldn't be more humble during this interview from May 2014.

During the summer of 2014, Whiskey Myers visited so often we almost put them to work alphabetizing CDs. I’m kidding, but Radio Texas Live listeners got to know Cody Cannon and his band real well. This is before 'Yellowstone' and their most successful commercial album, but after it was safe to debate an all-time Whiskey Myers song list, which we do.

If you geek out over a rich conversation about real country music you’re going to love this episode of Radio Texas Live Legends. In 2015, I told Cody Jinks he was bringing back real country music, and I stand by that. Four albums later and he hasn't let me down.

When Aaron Watson's 'The Underdog' album hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country Album chart, the Nashville music machine was shocked. We weren't. Even with his success, Watson remains as humble and unassuming as ever. You'll hear it during this interview, taped in January 2013.

For over a decade, Radio Texas Live has been bringing the best in Texas and Red Dirt music to radio stations across America. The Radio Texas Live Legends podcast recalls early interviews with stars like Aaron Watson, Cody Johnson, Josh Abbott, Kacey Musgraves and more. Listen to each speak with precious candor at a time before fame was a guarantee. You know how their story ends. With host Buddy Logan you’ll go back to the beginning.

During this interview from February 2013, Josh Abbott and the Josh Abbott Band show they have plenty of Texas swagger, even if he'd soon be served a dose of humility. Host Buddy Logan talked to them between the releases of two iconic albums, Small Town Family Dream and Front Row Seat.

If anyone ever told Kacey Musgraves to get a real job she certainly wasn’t going to listen. This interview from October 2011 finds a wide-eyed newcomer nervous and grateful for airplay and attention, but every bit as confident as the woman we saw 10 years later, speaking her mind and posing provocatively in magazine pages. Back then, she hadn’t figured it all out yet, but she’d figured out enough.

Host Buddy Logan asks Kacey about new music, new songs she wrote for other famous artists and more. She also talks about the Josh Abbott Band, the subject of Ep. 2 of Radio Texas Live Legends.
