Radio started for Dave whilst he was still in high school as the host of a breakfast show on community radio. At the time his mum said if he "put as much effort into his school work as he did radio, he could be a brain surgeon."

His first paid job in radio was driving around handing out Smith's chips and icy cold Up'n'Gos, before he made it on-air, which has seen him work all over the country.
