I’ve gotten better at listening and not interrupting—partly because I always hope that more arguments will actually come up when there’s so much understanding for car culture—and none for everyone else who not only doesn’t embrace this culture but also suffers greatly from it.

As a person perceived as female in a male-dominated field, I lost touch with my healthy anger for decades—the kind of anger that arises when not everyone is doing well.
