Waka Kotahi has had to drop its plan for a roundabout at Whatawhata, but doesn't want to publicise that safety now has a lesser place. It explains, "Safety remains a priority, embedded across all investments. Funding for this project has not been prioritised. Our focus is on delivering safe roading infrastructure, providing enhanced maintenance and resilience as well as increased support for enforcement. This means several safety projects have been reprioritised"!
