Rahab's Faith

Listen Later

This sermon uses the story of Rahab, a prostitute who helped Israelite spies and was saved when Jericho was destroyed, to show that faith can save even the worst sinners and change their lives completely. Spurgeon explains that Rahab's faith was special because it was saving (rescued her soul), singular (she was the only one in her city who believed), stable (she trusted God even when it seemed impossible), self-denying (she risked her life), sympathizing (she saved her whole family), and sanctifying (it changed her into a godly woman). He encourages even the most sinful people in the audience that if they truly believe in Jesus, they can be forgiven and transformed just like Rahab was, but warns that real faith always leads to a changed life, not continued sin.

A sermon delivered by Charles Spurgeon on March 1, 1857.
