Today, we are going to hear from a very special mentor, friend and teacher in my life, Simon Sedillo. We are gathered here to discuss the uprising of student encampments, which are only increasing every day and across the world, in support of Palestinian liberation. Because of our context, we will be focusing on the student encampments in the U.S, or as many are calling the “student intifada” movement.
Given Simon's experiences as a community organizer and researcher on the effects of the neoliberal military political economy on indigenous communities in the US and Mexico, we are here to draw parallels between military occupation in Turtle Island and the occupation of Palestine, and how U.S imperialism relates to both struggles for liberation. Simon is author of the recently published book, Weapons, Drugs & Money: Crime, Corruption and Community Based liberation in the U.S/Mexico Neoliberal Military Political Economy.
