In this soul-shaking episode of I Am Her, You Are Me, we’re joined by the unstoppable force that is Krissy Sweets known to many as a boss wife, entrepreneur, content creator, chef, influencer, motivational speaker, and so much more. But behind the beauty, success, and power is Krystal a woman who rose from the wreckage of her childhood to become a light for others.
Krissy opens up about being raised by chaos growing up in a home where love was absent, survival was daily, and she had to mother herself and raise her brothers while her father served time in prison and her mother remained in and out of her life. She shares what it was like to drop out of school in the 9th grade, only to later reclaim her power by earning her GED and becoming a medical assistant with plans to attend nursing school.
Through heartbreak, abandonment, and family dysfunction, she never gave up on herself. She chose peace over pain, healing over history, and purpose over pity. Her powerful testimony includes going no contact with family for the sake of her mental health, building her own lane, and finding deep love in her marriage of 8 years with the man she met in 2009.
With over a decade in content creation, Krissy is the definition of self-paid and self-made. She’s used her voice and influence to mentor young girls from broken systems, stand in the gap for the motherless and fatherless, and teach others the importance of self-love, self-worth, and never settling.
This episode is a reminder that it’s not about the family you come from it’s about the one you create. Krissy reminds us to fix our crowns, protect our peace, and never dim our light no matter how dark the past may have been.
*Remember, my podcast is not scripted. I am in the projects, working on my projects, trying to make it out of the projects. This is a safe place where you feel free and open. What you hear is what you receive. We don’t hide who we are. We are real, we are living, and we are just being the humans that God called us to be. We are not always perfect, but we continue to strive for perfection.
