Raleigh Weather Daily 05/09/25: Storm Chances Brewing with Thunderstorm Potential and Weekend Forecast Insights

Listen Later

Hey weather warriors! Dustin Breeze here, and let me tell you, we've got a forecast that's gonna keep you on your toes!

Right now, we're looking at some seriously interesting meteorological action here in Raleigh. Overnight, we've got rain playing quarterback, expected mainly before 5 in the morning. We're talking cloudy skies with temperatures dropping to around 61 degrees. West winds are gonna be cruising around 6 miles per hour - like a smooth running back moving across the field.

Let's dive into our Weather Playbook segment! Today, I want to talk about something called "precipitation probability". Think of it like a football play - it's the chance of rain showing up on the field. When we say there's a 60 percent chance of precipitation, it means if you lined up 10 similar weather scenarios, rain would roll in about 6 of those times. Pretty cool, right?

Now for our three-day forecast - our play-by-play:

Friday: Chance of rain before 11 in the morning, then potentially some thunderstorm action after noon. We're looking at temperatures climbing to near 81 degrees. Southwest winds keeping things interesting at 5 to 7 miles per hour.

Saturday: Partly sunny with a high near 73 degrees. Northeast winds will be our defensive line, holding steady at 5 to 7 miles per hour.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain after 2 in the afternoon. High temperature around 73 degrees.

And hey, speaking of wild weather - no major unusual phenomena to report today, but the atmosphere is always ready to throw a surprise play!

It's gonna be WIIIIILD out there, folks!
