Good morning, weather watchers! This is your local meteorologist coming in hot (or should I say, cold) with today's forecast for the Raleigh area.
Bundle up, folks! We're looking at a chilly start to the day with temperatures struggling to climb. Today will be sunny but frigid, with a high near 38 degrees Fahrenheit. The wind chill will make it feel like a brisk 15 degrees, so don't forget those layers! Expect a light north wind blowing at 5 to 8 miles per hour.
Tonight, we're in for a clear evening with temperatures dipping down to around 20 degrees. It'll be a perfect night for hot cocoa and cozy socks.
Thursday brings a bit of relief with mostly sunny skies and temperatures reaching near 48 degrees Fahrenheit. Morning wind chills will still hover around 15 degrees, but we'll see a light southwest wind picking up to 5 to 10 miles per hour with gusts up to 21 miles per hour.
The weekend is looking a bit wet. Saturday brings an 80 percent chance of rain with temperatures near 51 degrees Fahrenheit. Sunday continues the rainy trend with a 40 percent chance of precipitation and similar temperatures.
Martin Luther King Day looks to be a cold one, with sunny skies but temperatures only reaching a high of 36 degrees Fahrenheit. Monday night will be especially chilly, dropping to around 15 degrees.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, expect mostly sunny conditions with a high near 28 degrees Fahrenheit.
