Listen Later

Good morning, weather watchers! This is your friendly neighborhood meteorologist coming in hot (or should I say cold) with today's forecast for the Raleigh area.

Buckle up, because winter is making a dramatic entrance! We've got a Winter Storm Watch in effect, so let's break down what's headed our way.

Today, expect a mostly sunny day with temperatures climbing to a crisp 49 degrees Fahrenheit. Light north winds will keep things cool, so grab a light jacket when you head out.

Tonight, we're looking at partly cloudy skies and temperatures dipping down to around 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The wind will be playing hide and seek - calm at first, then sneaking in from the northeast at about 6 miles per hour after midnight.

Wednesday is where things get interesting! We've got a 100 percent chance of precipitation, with snow and sleet taking center stage. Temperatures will struggle to hit 33 degrees Fahrenheit, and we're expecting one to two inches of wintery mix. Northeast winds will be blowing around 9 miles per hour, so bundle up!

Wednesday night continues the winter wonderland theme. Snow likely, with a possibility of freezing rain and sleet before 1 am. Temperatures will drop to a chilly 23 degrees Fahrenheit with north winds around 7 miles per hour.

Thursday brings a slight reprieve with partly sunny skies and a high near 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Expect northwest winds between 6 to 13 miles per hour with gusts up to 25 miles per hour.

The rest of the week looks progressively warmer, with sunny and mostly sunny days climbing into the high 30s and 40s, and nighttime temperatures hovering in the teens and 20s.
