This week in Ramsbottom we’ve had some drama on Tanners Street with the road opening up and threatening to swallow anything that wants to get anywhere too close to it. Yes, we had a sinkhole on Tanners.
Thankfully the “Road Closed” signs were obeyed and cars used alternative routes… Well, of course not, people were still driving up and around Tanners bringing with it more risk to the road and safety of others.
That road is a nightmare at the best of times. It’s a 20Mph road with people flying past like they’re at Silverstone, some people really need to consider other people at times. I’m glad we didn’t move onto that road, we had looked at a house on Tanners at the time, the house was lovely but with a young child I really didn’t like how busy the road was right outside the door.
Hopefully the road works are completed soon but currently it looks like it’s going to be well over a week before it gets completed.
On a brighter note, Ralf Little of Royle Family fame visited Levanter this week; taking his Mum for some exceptional Tapas, however much to his amusement she clearly didn’t quite understand the concept of given she was insisting they only have one dish each, awww 🙂

Love that Ralf took his Mum out to Ramsbottom, it’s great that people who can pretty much go anywhere they want to choose to come to Ramsbottom to eat, just goes to show the calibre of food we have on offer here.

This weekend I also managed to find time to nip into Bev’s Barbers, the first time since it move. It’s got lovely decor, some of which was from Hearts for Homes, the new shop on Bolton Street which funnily enough used to be a barbers.
Whilst in there I bumped into Olly who is a fan of the show and had keen ears picking out my voice whilst I was getting my hair cut, nice to meet you Olly and thanks for listening to the show.
I recently wrote on the website asking What you have always wanted to know about Ramsbottom.
This could be anything you’ve always wanted to know, and I’ll be honest, I don’t have all the answers but I am starting to learn more and more about our town and with knowledge comes power, is it? Or is it power comes responsibility? I don’t know, it’s one of those things.
Either way, I am in a position where I’m an information junkie, love answering people’s questions and love Ramsbottom. I believe if there was a venn diagram for it, it would look something like this:
Now you’ve had your chance to ask questions, have you had a chance to complete this year’s Audience survey? I know it seems like only last year that I asked for you to fill one out, but this survey really helps me to ensure that This is Rammy remains something that you enjoy reading and listening to. I’ve got big plans for This is Rammy in the coming year but I’ve only a finite amount of time available so if you’re able to give me your opinions I’ll know where to focus my effort. I absolutely trust your opinion and would love to hear from you on what you want This is Rammy to continue doing or what to do instead.
Thanks to everyone following the Twitter and Facebook pages, Hi to Jane Anderson, Geraldine Cowie, Jonathan Crompton, Gareth Seddon, Gerry Wilkins, Jocelyn Latimer and Katalin Koncsag. Great to have you on board and listening to the show.
