In Worcester, Massachusetts exists a radio station called 97.9 FM Unity Radio. On this incredible platform is the number 1 rated baseball show, called WOOCAST, that covering our Worcester Red Sox. Monday and Wednesday nights at 6pm, do not miss the most comprehensive and expert analysis only on 97.9 FM with Executive Producer Erine Floyd.
Frank Cristiano co-hosted and we talked about the team fighting hard but ultimately did not make up a lot of ground in the international league standings. Going 2-5 against Scranton at home was not what we needed. But they finally defeated them on the second game of a double header winning 7-4.
Unfortunately, they dropped 3 straight before finding a 3-game winning streak of their own which ended August 1st against Buffalo. Uwasawa leads the team with 6 wins now after Saturday's game. Gonzalez has picked up two wins and Luetge has also been improving.
They lost against Syracuse last night and are showing such grit, along with the fighting spirit that makes up this roster. The team has heart, plays with a special passion and energy. With two months left in the season, Worcester can easily catch fire and go on a winning streak to bring them into the playoffs.
Trading top prospect Niko Kavadas will definitely make things harder, he was leading the team in home runs and RBIs. Bobby Dalbac, Nick Sogard, Nick Yorke, Nathan Hickey, Emmanuel Valdez, Jamie Westbrook, Chase Meidroth are more than talented enough of picking up the slack offensively.
Then, we have our difference maker, who puts deep fear into hearts and souls of our opponents, none other than the mustache man himself, Mickey Gasper. Regardless, whether he is behind the plate, playing first base, catching or in the lineup as a DH, the mustache man is instant offense. In only 36 games, he is batting .385 with 6 big home runs and 29 RBIs.
Mickey makes the most out of every opportunity he receives. Hitting the ball well, coming through in the clutch, and now he is being walked often, which has led to him scoring more runs.
Worcester has a talented pitching staff, led by the WAR EAGLE himself "Big Dickie" Richard Fitts is breaking away from his recent struggles, Alexander is coming around, Shugart, Van Belle are figuring it out. Guerrero throws straight fire as a middle reliever and still has 4 wins. Lucas Luetge has 4 wins, leads the team with 6 saves and we will put our rally caps on because our Worcester Red Sox, with manager Chad Tracy's creativity, will not disappoint!
