Quick and entertaining read
Very entertaining read. I have now read most of this series and continue to enjoy them. They are not a detailed or as filled-out as O'Brien's Aubrey/Maturin series, but still a fun read.

This a review of the series rather than this particular novel. The author is undoubtedly knowledgeable about ships, the history and culture. If he had written one novel it would probably rate four stars. As a series the endless repetition is ridiculous and boring. Even in the first novel I found myself skipping through multiple kindle pages. It takes longer to read about weighing anchor (each time) than to do it. I'm just starting the sixteenth novel in the series and would recommend it to those who enjoy the genre. But I would rather read Patrick O'brian or Alexander Kent.
Great
Good read very spellbinding as all of these books have been. Have read few books that were more interesting. Great!
Against all odds
Lord Ramage, the most junior captain in the Royal Navy, has been given seemingly impossible tasks by the local Admiral in the Caribbean, perhaps to vindicate his own favorite frigate captain. It's a two part adventure in which Ramage succeeds against difficult odds. Another great sea tale by Douglas Pope. JC Yuill
No "Red Flag" for Ramage
I read this entire series several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed each book. Dudley Pope was not quite as gifted as Patrick O'Brian but his characters are believable and the story line in each is plausible. He avoids a lot of the "gore" that some authors include. I also found these books to be "family friendly" in that Pope doesn't go into explicit descriptions of the sailor's escapades on shore.
