Concealing a black eye during a Vogue cover shoot is par for the course for Ramla Ali, IMG Model pursuing her Olympic boxing dreams representing the nation of Somalia. Though she began boxing as a means to lose weight at a young age, she talks about the difficulty of pursuing a career, particularly as a Muslim woman. After we shared training and competition secrets, Ramla discussed how her family settled in the UK after fleeing a war ridden Somalia in the early 90’s when she was just a toddler.
