BE DRIVEN [STUDIO]: Our guests today own an eco-friendly brick company that manufactures bricks using sand and recycled plastic.
Through their company Ramtsilo Manufacturing & Construction they'll be the first company to bring the plastic brick to South Africa.
We’re joined in the studio by Kedibone and Keletso Tsiloane to understand more about their business model.
The PlastiBrick was invented as a solution to the plastic pandemic that our country faces, while significant efforts have been made by government, big companies and households to recycle plastic we are still confronted with the need for a long-term solution to this crisis.
We collect plastic that would otherwise end up in landfills and rivers polluting our environment from waste pickers we see in the streets and recycling companies, use it as raw material together with sand for the manufacturing of bricks that offer a sustainable solution to housing while creating jobs and meeting environmental imperatives.
The Plastibrick is not only a game changer for the alternative building industry, but it benefits the country as well with its characteristics. We currently work with two buy back centers but there are a more recycling companies that we intend on partnering with to set a ripple effect of employment and boosting the economic activity of the country.
The bricks are highly durability and low in maintenance, can continue to cure even after manufacturing which makes them even stronger. The South African market has not only welcomed the innovation but have also endorsed the
