Next gen is finally here -- the PS5 and the Xbox Series X both lie on the horizon. But before we wander off into a new generation of consoles, let's take a step back and remember where we currently are, and how we got here. In this season finale of Random Access Memories, writer/host Wade Ronspies takes the deepest of dives into the origins of our current generation of consoles and how it all happened to begin with. This is the story of how we ended up with a rag-tag group of consoles called the WiiU, the PS4 and the Xbox One -- starting on one fateful day in 2006.

From its origins as an Avengers-esque meeting of the greatest minds in horror like Guillermo del Toro and Junji Ito... to its unfortunate conclusion as vaporware.
