Season 3: Episode 10: Strange Brew (1983)

This is the season finale of the Canadian Content season of Random Cinema, and we end on a classic. This episode we talk about the Rick Moranis/Dave Thomas classic, Strange Brew.

And this movie is exactly that, a classic. But not much can be said about this classic. It’s based on the sketch comedy characters of Bob and Doug Mackenzie, the UBER Canadian brother pair. Andrew compares this movie to Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein for a reason. It’s a series of sketches with a loose B plot based on Hamlet. Overall it’s a solid movie that you can see the DNA of in other films of its type, like Fubar.

It was a blast talking about Canadian content for a year but there are other films we want to talk about so we combined the leftover Canadian films with a trimmed down list from Season 2 to make a new season with more Canadian content mixed in with the international films we want to discuss.

Join us next time for Season 4! We start off with the classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!
