To the Women Before Me
This episode is a reimagining of my very first episode, a poem I wrote in 2021 that became a spoken word piece, and now, years later, a full episode.
It’s Mother’s Day weekend. And I wanted to talk about the women we came from. The ones we love. The ones we’re still healing from. The ones who were extraordinary and silenced at the same time.
I’m a child of immigrants. Roots in India. Grew up not Indian enough for one world, not American enough for the other. And the women I watched growing up, my mom, my ancestors, the ones who came before, they passed down their wounds and their wisdom. Both. Always both.
This episode is only 10 minutes. A poem. A story. An invitation.
Before you press play, think of a woman in your life you want a better relationship with. Hold her with you as you listen.
Thank you for being here. And more importantly, thank you for breaking cycles of silence & shame in your own lineage.
