Ransomware attack hits county computers

Box Elder County officials say a ransomware attack locked multiple government systems but did not breach any personal data, and election equipment remained unaffected. A ransomware attack is a type of malicious software that encrypts computer files or systems, locking out users and demanding payment, often in untraceable cryptocurrency, to restore access.
