1 King chapter 20.
record a series of wars between an Aramean king, Benhadad, and King Ahab of Israel. With the help of prophetic oracles, the Israelite king managed to repeatedly defeat an aggressive, arrogant and stronger enemy.
Lessons
Sinners should come to God the King with the same manner as Ben-Hadad. They should come with sincerity, with humility, with surrender, with earnestness,
Chapter 21
Naboth owned a vineyard, in proximity to King Ahab's palace in the city of Jezreel. Because of this, Ahab desired to acquire the vineyard so that he could use it for a vegetable (or herb) garden. Since he inherited the land from his ancestors, Naboth refused to sell it to Ahab.
Lessons
No-one could have said God did any wrong if he'd just ignored Ahab's response, but he chose to notice it. God is glorified in this act of grace, because you can see what he is like and how gracious he is to you.
Chapter 22
Josiah reigns in righteousness in Judah Hilkiah repairs the temple and finds the book of the law Josiah sorrows because of the wickedness of his fathers Huldah prophesies wrath upon the people but blessings upon Josiah.
Lesson
There is, of course, a lesson in this story, one God communicates many times throughout the Scriptures. “A little child shall lead them.” It is a call to listen to the children. Don't dismiss them. Truly hear what they have to say about the future of the church.
