On this very special bonus RARE SLOT episode we dig into depths of collectible game history to bring you a previously untold story about a CCG that was never published.
Way back in the mid-1990s, college student Quan Williams created a fan-made collectible card game based on the TRANSFORMERS cartoon & toy line. After posting his ideas online, the project went viral! (...at least as viral as thing went back in 1996).
Soon his ideas had caught the eye of a fellow amateur game designer, Rich Garner. Together they honed the game—titled TF BattleCards—& eventually they were able to get it seen by Hasbro, the world biggest toy company & owners of the Transformers IP.
Quan joins Rands in this episode to tell us about his experiences designing that game & recalling the compete saga, including what happened once Hasbro got involved.
