As we wrap up Human Rights Month, we look at the rights of the Rastafarian community not only in Mzansi, but through the African continent. Over the years we’ve seen how Rastafarian children have been turned away from schools due to their deadlocked hair and beliefs. Interestingly, Mathenge Mukundi, became Kenya’s first Rastafarian advocate of the High Court, something South Africa has been battling with. Then there’s the issue of decriminalising cannabis which is very dear to this community.
