Welcome to another Rathole Radio. Creeping ever closer to episode 100 here is the 95th instalment of our little show. I played my usual eclectic mix of music and talked as coherently as possible, i.e – not that coherently. We also saw the return of the live song with a slightly ropey but hopefully charming version of a classic children’s TV theme. Bon apetit.
00:00 – Midi Chips – How Were You – CC BY-NC-SA Licensed – Picked this one up via CCHits late last year. Midi Chips are from Pori in Finland. Maybe ultraturquiose can tell us how to say that one properly.
07:36 – Sam Page – Pheromones – Licence Unknown – I’ve played lots of tracks by Sam recently and I was pleased to get an email from him about his new album Breach. This track caught my ear and reminds me a little of Beck in places.
17:37 – On Returning – Isn’t There Really A Place For Me In This World? – CC BY-SA Licensed – On Returning are a Swedish group I heard on CCHits. Well worth hunting down. More tracks available on Jamendo. You can also find them on Bandcamp.
28:06 – Visciera – Outline Of An Inexorable Mind – CC BY-NC-SA Licensed – I had an email from Florian, the main man behind this. Visciera are based in Berlin, Germany and currently on the excellent Headphonica label. More tracks are available on Free Music Archive.
39:05 – Grandtheft – We Run Dis – License Unknown – I was tipped off about a collective known as Tribe Called Red by listener Armin Krauss. Via them I found this track by Grandtheft on Soundcloud.
44:59 – Live Track: Postman Pat theme – for Moggers87 – Adrian suggests a childrens show theme song series for the live tracks. I think that’s a great call. Send me your suggestions.
49:38 – Jelixa – What You Need To Know – CC BY-NC-SA Licensed – The current number one track on Jamendo. A cool slice of pop America’s Jelixa. This is the opening track from her album My Beta Music.
58:09 – Josh Woodward – Faded War – CC BY Licensed – Saw a tweet about this. A new song from Josh Woodward with a very cool video on YouTube.
