News Features:

1. Deadline.com reports that in part of the Syfy networks effort to expand into horror, a Chucky series is coming to television. They have the rights. They are forming a plan. The project comes from the Chucky movie franchise creator/writer Don Mancini and producer David Kirschner as well as TV writer-producer Nick Antosca (Hulu’s The Act). 2. A new tabletop role playing game Thousand Year Old Vampire by Tim Hutchings is due to be released June 1 of this year. Currently in a Kickstarter, the page has detailed information, graphics, videos, and a free downloadable PDF Playtest that is lengthy and involved. 3. Sarah Michelle Gellar will be tapping into her roots as a commercial and horror-movie actress Sunday February 3rd with a premier of an Olay skin care commercial. The star of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and the Grudge films is in Olay’s Killer Skin campaign. Teasers have shown Sarah at home under threat from a masked intruder. 4. The Verge has confirmed that a new adaptation of The Stand is coming as a ten-part series on CBS All Access. A solid project with Stephen King himself excited and giving his full support, the undated project will be directed by Josh Boone with primary writing by Boone and Ben Cavell. It was previously done as an 8-hour miniseries on ABC in 1994, and Warner Brothers made a launch attempt some time ago that was to be directed by Boone but never went anywhere. 5. And speaking of more Stephen King related news, the sequel to The Shining is set to be released from Warner Brothers November 8, 2019. Doctor Sleep will star Ewan McGregor as the adult Danny. Directed by Mike Flanagan who most recently brought us Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House, the story is set years after the events at the Overlook when a damaged Danny with gifts dulled by age and alcohol becomes involved with a young girl coming to grips with a Shining of her own. 6. Bonus cool weirdness - Self-proclaimed Tinker Gnome Jared Gray has made the best out of the pain-in-the-backside condition of sleep apnea by modifying his CPAP machine to look like he’s been attacked by a facehugger from Alien. His blog gives a detailed account of how he did it, with plenty of photos. While it’s not quite practical or ready for mass production, it’s very awesome and looks great.
