University of Wellington or Victoria University?
The campus council yesterday voted nine to two in favour of the name change, despite more than 90 percent of 10,000 submissions opposing the change.
It is not a done deal yet as it still needs the sign off from Education Minister Chris Hipkins, or possibly someone else while he is on maternity leave.
Hutt City Mayor Ray Wallace told Mike Hosking he opposed the name change.
"My personal view is that it has a very proud history and success, it would be a shame to lose that."
