📡 Raytheon Phantom Strike Radar and Autonomous Air Power

Listen Later

Raytheon’s initiative to equip the U.S. Air Force’s autonomous X-62A VISTA aircraft with the advanced PhantomStrike radar system. This innovative technology utilizes a gallium nitride (GaN) array and a unique air-cooled design to provide high-performance targeting capabilities in a significantly lighter and more compact frame. Because it eliminates the need for heavy cooling hardware, the system is cost-effective and adaptable for various platforms, including drones and light-attack helicopters. By integrating this fire-control radar into uncrewed jets, the military aims to enhance situational awareness and maintain tactical superiority in the air. The radar’s open architecture also ensures it can be easily updated to meet evolving battlefield requirements without extensive hardware overhauls.
