This week’s Rough Cut is officially for the birds. We’re going to build three bird houses and talk about bird-specific design. For our Rough Cut Road Trip, we’ll visit with a few feathery friends, and find out what THEY look for in a home and join our good friend Al back in the shop.

Rough Cut - Woodworking with Tommy Mac invites viewers into the workshop of Boston native and fine furniture maker Thomas J. MacDonald, a graduate of the famed Boston-based North Bennet Street School. The show follows Tommy as he travels to historical American landmarks to gain design inspiration, then returns to his workshop to demonstrate the steps and techniques it takes to create comprehensive woodworking projects.

In these short clips Tommy shares his skills, best practices, tips and techniques giving the opportunity for anyone with an interest in woodworking, novice to advanced, to learn and excel at the craft.
