The League cup is now completed and Manchester United has ended their trophy drought. Newcastle United will have to wait for their chance to lift silverware as Manchester United won the match 2-0.

In the league, Arsenal and Manchester City continue to pile pressure on each other - by both collecting victories. West Ham and Leeds both picked up huge results in their matches against relegation opposition; can those clubs use victories like these to save their season? Liverpool, looking for an opportunity to get over the crushing defeat against Real Madrid, were unable to score against Crystal Palace and settled for a 0-0 draw. The capstone of the weekend was the London derby between Spurs and Chelsea. Chelsea were desperate to get a result that could steady the turbulence currently affecting the club, but were unable to secure the result desired. Tottenham won the match 2-0 and pile even more pressure on Chelsea to right the ship.
