Generally speaking, the World Cup is always a time to get excited about the upcoming tournament. All the best players coming together and non-stop action for almost three weeks straight. Its hard to beat...in most years; but this year feels different. The World Cup is interrupting the league seasons by being held in November/December, there were well documented accounts of human rights violations and worker mistreatment towards the migrant workers who came an build the stadiums, and there have been reports already that Qatari officials have been restricting the activities of reporters. So this could be the most interesting World Cup in some time.

But, football will be played. And we here at Red Card Radio really, really enjoy football. So we'll be watching and breaking it down for you all month. From three friends who support the USA, you might be able to guess who we're pulling for. But in this episode, we go through all the groups, pick which teams are advancing, pick the winners of the knock out stages, and finally pick a winner of the whole thing.
