Every one of us experiences pain. We typically try to avoid our pain, hide from or run away from the pain. The problem with pain is that when ignored, shoved aside, or hidden, it grows and gains space in our minds. Pain in us disrupts us and our relationships. It is described as darkness in the Bible.
Jesus is light for the darkness in each of us from our pain. His light exposes the truth about the darkness. His light reveals all the destructive lies making up the darkness. These lies get us stuck developmentally as we grow up, often keeping us stuck even as adults. Mercifully, Jesus seeks to heal us from the pain created by these lies, not all at once but, over time, freeing us one lie at a time. Truth of His love heals us when we allow ourselves to experience being loved by Him.
Jesus is re-creating us as He moves us from darkness to light, enslaved to free.
