Romans 12:2
Big Idea: Renewing our minds is a continual but crucial process in a Christian life.
1 Corinthians 2:11-16
If you don’t allow God in to renew your mind, you’re not living the way you were created to live.
Point 1: Guard yourself.
“You are what your mind looks at.” - Tan Hwee Hwee
2 Corinthians 4:4
2 Timothy 1:7
Point 2: what’s filling you, what are you allowing to fill you?
THAT'S why it’s important to be familiar with God’s word and character. Renewal comes with the transformation of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 12:9
Ephesians 5:18-20
Point 3: Practice the process.
Philippians 4:8–9
“We move in the direction of our predominant thoughts” - Jim Ladd, Earl Nightingale
2 Corinthians 3:18
May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.
May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His power.
May the peace of God my Father
Rule my life in everything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.
May the love of Jesus fill me
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory.
May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.
May His beauty rest upon me,
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.
(Kate B. Wilkinson, “May the Mind of Christ, My Savior”)
