PILEA has been living in Hamburg for over 14 years and is deeply rooted in the local scene. In addition to her artistic work, she volunteers at a Hamburg radio station—a place where music is shared, discovered, and passed on.

Her connection to music has always remained tangible. During the coronavirus pandemic, she discovered her passion for vinyl – out of a need to not only listen to music, but to actually hold it in her hands. Each record tells a story, builds a relationship and becomes part of a cycle of finding, feeling and passing on.

For PILEA, record stores are like little time capsules: spaces where everything happens more slowly, bills are sometimes still handwritten, and music retains its original value. Second-hand clothing, used records, and lived-in patina are not a trend, but an attitude.
