Re-tired Ep. 15: Journaling

Listen Later

Did you keep your deepest wishes and secrets in a diary when you were a kid? Tina and Sue have found that keeping a diary or a journal throughout their lives has provided them with an outlet for stresses and as means to self discovery and creativity. Journaling for Tina is an external release that has left her in shock even as she writes. Puzzle pieces of understanding fit together, providing insight and understanding. For Sue, those same puzzle pieces start fitting when she reflects upon her writing after getting it all out.

Sue shares her excitement about attending the Anne Lister Birthday Week in Halifax, England, celebrating the diarist and famed "first modern lesbian". Her over 4 million words, much encoded in her own "crypthand", came to life in 'Gentleman Jack' (HBO/BBC).
