Only a few pages in and am already transported into this story.

Harry, a writer in search of new inspiration on a whim buys a farmhouse in a remote village during the dead of winter.

Caleb and Sarah --the neighbors --are the first characters we meet. With their special "gifts" and a mysterious past I wonder what their presence will mean for their new neighbor...

At first with names like these I thought we were in 18th century Massachusetts but nope, as I read on we are most definitely in France, as far as I can tell in the far North.

I am struck by the elegance of the language and just got a chill as Bouysse describes the crack of dawn: "l'aube déchire un coin de la nuit".

Powerful metaphors and a mystery... This book promises to be a gem. Who else is coming along for the ride?!
