In this episode from 1 Samuel 28:8-25 we read about how Saul secretly went to a witch (medium) so he could talk to Samuel who had died. This Chapter continues to show us the results of not waiting on God and not obeying God. This for Saul is like the final straw. God told Saul to kill all the Amalekites-he did not.Saul got impatient and did not wait for Samuel the Priest to offer the sacrifice - Saul took Samuel’s job and offered the sacrifice himself. (This was not God’s will)Saul tried on numerous occasions to kill David whom God had anointed to be the next king.In this Chapter, Saul sinned by consulting with a witch, something God had forbidden (Deut 18:9-12).What can we learn from Saul? That disobedience to God has serious consequences. It costs Saul the kingdom and eventually his life.Even though we are living in a time of God’s grace, we don’t want to continue being disobedient when we know what God wants us to do. God is long suffering with us but there is coming a judgement day. We want to hear God say ‘well done’ to us on judgement day- not ‘depart from Me, I never knew you’. Let’s be obedient! In this week’s lesson from 1 Samuel 28:1-9, we read about how Saul continues to be out of God’s will when he desperately looks for a witch to give him direction. In this episode from 1 Samuel 26 - 27, we talked about men having more than one wife how it was not God’s original plan. Men started having more than one wife after the fall. God’s divine order was one man for one woman. We read about how David spared Saul’s life again. We read about how people from David’s own tribe betrayed him twice. In Chapter 27 David makes the decision to go live in Philistine territory just so he could get away from Saul. One thing we can learn from this lesson is how much God loves us and is able to keep us even when we are surrounded by the enemy. Truth be told, when we are surrounded by the enemy, that’s when we grow deeper in God. When the enemy and haters are all around us, we are forced to cry out to God. In this episode, we read about the death of Samuel and how Abigail saved her household from being slaughtered by David and his men. Abigail is definitely the heroine in this episode. Her fast action and quick thinking saved her household and prevented David from doing something he would regret later. Two things I want us to see in this episode, first that as women we have an important role to play. As women there are times when we must be bold and courageous and just do what God is telling us to do. Our obedience to God will save a lot of spiritual lives. The other thing I want us to notice is how sensitive David was in recognizing that divine intervention comes from God. I believe that as children of God, every thing that happens to us is orchestrated or allowed by God to teach us something. So in every situation we should be asking God, ‘what do you want me to learn from this’. In this episode from 1 Samuel 23 - 24:12 we read how David was under attack daily by Saul (23:14). David had to be constantly alert. We must also stay alert. I Peter 5:8 tells us to stay alert. The devil is always busy trying to sow discord and confusion. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our fight should not be with each other but we are fighting evil spirits daily. Knowing who our real enemy is, let’s remember when we are offended or wounded by our brothers or sisters Matt 6:15 tells us we must forgive those who wronged us if we want God to forgive our sins (trespasses). Even if the person or persons never apologize, we still have to forgive. Wow! That is really hard to do - but God is the one who helps us to forgive. While we are on this earth, there will be times when someone offends you or wrongs you. Our choice will always be ‘do I want to stay mad, bitter, and upset——or do I choose to release it and allow God to take me deeper in Him." I am telling you what I know from experience. If you choose God, He will set you free. None of us know the day of His return and we don’t want to be caught with unforgiveness in our hearts. Let’s make the choice today to forgive even if we have to do it through our tears. Don’t let anything or anybody turn you around from following Jesus! He has so much in store for you…just let it go, He got you!!!❤️🙏

In this episode we find David hiding from Saul in the cave of Adullam. We also read about how Saul slaughtered the Priests. David wrote a number of Psalms during this time. This was a dark time in his life. Let us remember that trouble doesn’t last forever. When we go through our trials let’s remember ‘this too shall pass’. In this episode from 1 Samuel Chapter 21 we began reading about David as a fugitive running from Saul. David wrote Psalm 34 after he had to humiliate himself and pretend to be crazy so that the Philistines would not kill him. A couple of things I want us to notice in this lesson. David lied to protect himself, reminding us that David is not perfect. So there is hope for us! The other thing I want us to recognize is how faithful God is to us. In this week’s lesson from 1 Samuel Chapter 20 we read about how Jonathan protected David from his father’s wrath. One take away from this lesson is that God will always give us the support we need. During the trying times of your life, when we were ready to throw the towel in, who was our spiritual Jonathan? Who was the person that was there for you, encouraging you telling you that you can make it? My husband has been my ‘spiritual Jonathan’. In This episode we continue to see how Saul’s jealousy of David leads to him trying to kill David. If we are experiencing any jealousy, we must be honest with God about it and ask God to remove it. Jealousy can take you to an ugly place just like it took Saul over. We also see in this episode how God’s favor is on David and how God blesses every thing David does. This is true for us as well. As ‘King’s kids’, God prospers us, and gives us blessings and favor in all we do. We should expect God’s favor as we go through this life. One take away from this episode is that Goliath can represent any problem or situation that we think is too big or too hard for us. It doesn’t matter how big the situation seems, our God is bigger. We must remember that we belong to God and He has promised to fight our battles for us. We only need to trust that God will do what He said He will do. He will never leave us or forsake us. Your problem, whatever it may be, is just an opportunity for your God to show up and show out.
