Psalm 22 is one of the Messianic psalms.  David is inspired to pen words foreseeing Jesus's suffering and those Jesus spoke while dying on the cross.  It paints a picture of the desolate Jesus felt at the one point in time he was separated from the Father and literally had the weight of the world on his shoulders.
