“Comfort the afflicted. Afflict the comfortable.” That’s the mandate the legendary owner of King broadcasting, Mrs. Bullitt, gave Reagan Ramsey when he was news director at KGW in the 80s. He was my former boss, whom I did not understand as a 23 year old sports reporter. He just scared me back then. But 30+ years later, I am enlightened about his character and successful method of leading a newsroom. I didn’t understand things then, but he had my best interest in mind. And today when he says he is proud of me and my career—I didn’t see that coming, nor the tear in my eye. There are memorable stories of Portland news and news people in this conversation.
