This book hooked me in from page one and living with racism daily and having with mountains I climb and valleys I swim.. perfectly put.

A beautiful truth

This book is not just about one theme, it's so life stricken it's amazing. Being black, feeling vulnerable, being honest about moments of insecurity, relationships with Family... it's all so beautiful. This book stands as a monument to all that plagues society and really helps me see how universal some themes are. It's truly awesome

Powerful must read

The rawness you hear as Julie is reading her experience of being a biracial woman growing up in the United States, of being a mother to two biracial children, and a woman in a biracial relationship is palpable and searing. Every white American who is able to truly open their hearts and ears to listen would never be able to turn a blind eye to racism, systemic oppression, and white supremacy again.

Black lives do matter, as do others.

I wanted to like this book and started to from time to time, but there was just a little too much poor me coming from an upper class Harvard girl, even if she considers herself black. There is no doubt that racism is an issue in the US today. We all loose because of judging each other by the most ridiculous of all characteristics - color.
