It was such an honor to talk to Ms. Michelle Person who is a school principal, best selling author, founder of Just Like Me books and creator of a supplemental social studies curriculum called Meanwhile In Africa. We have a very real discussion about how our Black children are not doing well like they should be when it comes to literacy and ways in which we can combat these issues. Michelle talked about her journey from a child growing up in a home filled with literacy, then becoming an educator to principal. Finally why she started a company like Just Like Me books which represents children in particular from the Black community. She also shared with us her vision and creation of the much needed Meanwhile in Africa curriculum for students in K-5 grades.
