Bri was one rebellious kid when she came to the residential program at Heartlight.

Bri continually neglected what was required of her, she offended others, and she went out of her way to break rules and disrespect me. Nothing I did seemed to get through to her. After a while, I was completely frustrated!

During an intense conversation with Bri, I asked, “What do you want from me?”

She responded in a way that I’ll never forget. She said, “Love me when I least deserve it, cuz that’s when I need it the most.”

That stopped me dead in my tracks. I dropped the argument and just gave her a hug. At that moment I realized that what she needed was grace.
