In 2007, a spanish movie came out that would start a found footage franchise, and that movie is REC. Part of the foriegn horror boom that took place between 2005 and 2010, REC cemented its place in film cinema with three sequels and even spawning an american remake by the name of Quarintine. 

REC begins as a television crew  consisting of a reporter and camera man as they ride along with a crew of fire fighters as they get a call to go to an apartment building. From there, they are held hostage inside due to a virus that has quickly spread throughout the building to its tenats.
