Hey folx and welcome to Darkness and Dragons, a D&D actual play for mature audiences. I’m your Dungeon Master, Melissa and I’m here to give you a recap of what you’ve missed so far in our story. 

Our story centers around Penny, Elly and Ryan; three young women who have been recruited by the Crown Prince of Caraquette to complete missions that he can’t been seen to publicly endorse. 

Penny’s story revolves around her expulsion from The Golden Academy. We don’t know exactly what happened yet, but we do know that she has a lot of debt to payoff and is avoiding her noble family. Over the first few months in Caraquette Castle, she’s been taken under the wing of Emperor Cade, who has offered her books, gifts and dark magics. 

Elly was enslaved by the crown when they attacked her village and killed her people. She works for Crown Prince Atlas, but it’s all a cover for her real mission-- to kill his mother, the Empress. We’ve seen Elly begin to side with the Unseen Rebellion, under Lien Farwind, but she’s yet to reveal to her friends how deeply she has become ingrained in their plots. 

Ryan is a character with a dark past that she hides from everyone, including her teammates. She was a concubine chosen for Crown Prince Atlas, but who has never laid a hand on her. Instead, she finds herself falling for his younger brother, Arsen. Ryan has experienced torture at the hands on the Empress and is driven to survive above all else.
