Squid Game cryptocurrency plunges to 0, after its creators who some now claim are actually just scammers, end up stealing $2.1 million from investors. SQUID had surged to as high as $2.861 before the creators sold their holdings for real cash. This kind of scam is commonly called a “rug pull” by crypto investors.
The Kroger Co. U.S. largest grocery retailer, announced on Friday, that it will begin accepting Bitcoin Cash. Starting December 1, 2021, the entire Kroger Family of Stores will accept Bitcoin Cash for all in-store & online purchases.
Crude oil has soared in price this year, up by over +64%, as national economies recover from the pandemic amid an energy squeeze marked by shortages of gas & coal as demand increases. Bank of America expects Brent crude to hit $120 a barrel, by the end of June. Meanwhile, the OPEC & its allies have loosened supply curbs only gradually, with top exporter Saudi Arabia maintaining a rather cautious stance.
Shares of Tesla surged +8.49% on Monday to $1,208.59, a new all-time high, partially on news that it is launching a pilot program under which it will make 10 of its Supercharger stations in the Netherlands usable for non-Tesla vehicles & the company is launching a leasing program in China, that lets customers get a Tesla vehicle with no down payment. The stock is up +70.30% in the last 3 months, +71.27% in 2021 & +201.76% y/y, with a market cap of $1.12T.
U.S. President Joe Biden’s domestic agenda suffered a major setback when Democratic Senator Joe Manchin said he would not commit to supporting a $1.75T framework on social spending & climate change unveiled last week. Manchin remains skeptical of offering free preschool for 3- & 4-year-olds, expansion of home care for the elderly & offering tax credits for companies investing in clean energy sources.
It was reported on Friday that the U.S. added 531,000 jobs in October & the unemployment rate dropped 0.2 percentage points to 4.6 percent, exceeding economists’ expectations, as the country began to recover from a summer surge of COVID-19.
